ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Since launching in 2018, the SoLa College Scholarship Fund has been dedicated to advancing equitable access to higher education in South Los Angeles. Every year, we welcome a new class of 25 “SoLa Scholars,” who receive scholarship funds ranging from $10,000 to full-ride awards. To date, the fund has awarded $1.73M to 161 emerging student leaders from South LA.
SoLa Scholars are selected for their demonstrated commitment to civic engagement and social responsibility. By intentionally moving away from traditional selection criteria focused on academic performance, we are cultivating a community of diverse talents and innovators eager to use higher education as a tool for social change.

THE SCHOLARSHIP PACKET
At the heart of our scholarship program is gaining a second home and community at SoLa. Our ecosystem of support is designed to drive our scholars to the graduation finish line while maintaining strong ties to their roots. In addition to the scholarship funds, SoLa Scholars receive:
Career Development: 1:1 career coaching, a tailored job and internship board, exclusive networking opportunities, and paid summer internships / jobs opportunities at SoLa.
SoLa Scholars Community: Year-round community support, scholars online hub with bi-monthly curated newsletters, online affinity groups, and virtual and in-person community building events.
Annual Care Packages: Delivered at the start of each school year to help scholars launch their semester with some goodies and school materials from our team.

THE MILLER FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIP
The Miller Full-Ride Scholarship was established to close the equity gap for South LA students specifically accepted to top-ranking universities, ensuring they have the opportunity to take the seat that they earned without financial barriers.
